RICHMOND COMPENSATION ASSOCIATION


GENERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

(Established January 2026)

SECTION I
AFFILIATION AND PURPOSE

A. Affiliation.  The General Advisory Committee (GAC) was established in accordance with Article VII of the Richmond Compensation Association (RCA) Bylaws and operates under the authority of the Board of Directors.

B. Purpose.  The Advisory Committee supports RCA by providing insights and expertise to the Board of Directors. Its purpose is to strengthen professional development programs, engage members to understand their needs and goals, and serve as ambassadors to promote the value of RCA membership.

SECTION II
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP

A. General.  This is a volunteer role with a oneyear renewable term. There shall be no discrimination in advisory members with regard to race, creed, color, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, medical conditions, national origin, religion, physical or mental disability, or others as required by law.

B. Committee Member Requirements.  In accordance with Article VII of the RCA Bylaws, all committee members must be RCA members. Committee members receive complimentary annual RCA membership for the duration of their appointment. RCA members interested in joining the Advisory Committee may contact the Board of Directors with a specific proposal for how they would like to contribute or to inquire about upcoming opportunities to serve in a general capacity.

D. Committee Voting.  Committee members are appointed by the Board of Directors and must remain in good standing in accordance with RCA Bylaws and the responsibilities outlined below.

SECTION III
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Strategic Insight.  Offer guidance on emerging Total Rewards trends, topics, speakers, workshops, and learning series that keep RCA current, credible, and responsive to member needs. Bring forward insights, concerns, and feedback from the community. Offer best practices from experience working with other professional associations or in leadership roles.

B. Programming and Events.  Recommend topics, speakers, formats, and social networking activities to strengthen member engagement. Help plan and evaluate quarterly meetings, webinars, and new event formats to ensure ongoing quality and relevance. Identify diverse approaches to participation (e.g., earlycareer vs. seniorlevel needs, inperson vs. virtual accessibility).

C. Community Engagement.  Interact with members and the broader Human Resources and Total Rewards community to identify needs, encourage participation, and opportunities to enhance member value.

D. Professional Expertise.  Provide subject matter expertise by serving as speakers, panelists, moderators, or contributors during member meetings; leading short learning segments (e.g., Excel tips, hot topics, professional development insights, encouraging member story-sharing).

E. Participation.  Attend quarterly Advisory Committee meetings, quarterly in-person member meetings & webinars, and dedicating a few hours each month to assigned committee objectives.

SECTION IV
COMMITTEE EXPECTATIONS

A. Demonstrate Thought Leadership.  Elevate the visibility and credibility of RCA by sharing expertise with the community. Committee members are expected to assist in writing articles or insights for RCA communications and share relevant resources, trends, or tools that support Total Rewards professionals through professional reflections, LinkedIn, or other forms of dialogue.

B. Support Quarterly Programming.  Contribute to the planning and execution of learning or networking events such as organizing quarterly meetings; coordinating logistics, speakers, or content for a learning session; and proposing or supporting new events.

C. Contribute to Membership Growth.  Assist in strengthening and expanding the RCA community through drafting communications for members, recommending new programs or initiatives, spreading knowledge to peers and colleagues about RCA, and serving as visible ambassadors who promote the value of participation and engagement.

health and welfare strategy. She partners with organizations

 to design and optimize benefits programs that balance

cost management with employee well-being, evolving

beyond traditional benefits models.

Jared Jarreau

Founder & Talent Solutions Architect

Jared Jarreau partners with organizations to build

competitive compensation frameworks and transition toward

skills-based job architectures. He specializes in translating complex

market data to map clear career pathways.

Teresa Vice, SHRM-SCP, CCP



Workplace: Virginia Office of the Attorney General

Director of Human Resources

Teresa leads HR operations and strategy including compensation

program design, workforce policy, and organizational development.

Teresa is a faculty member at the University of Richmond's School

of Professional and Continuing Studies, where she teaches SHRM

certification preparation.
