A Case Study of Removing Performance Ratings:  Powering Up Performance at Duke Energy: Shifting to an Ongoing Dialogue on Contribution, Impact & Development

Duke Energy initiated a strategic redesign of the performance management and pay linkage process to shift manager and employee focus from ratings to ongoing conversations about impact, engagement and development. Duke Energy is using the Powering Your Performance process to drive the business strategy and evolve the culture. The presenter will share with you the strategic intent of Powering Your Performance, the deep dive considerations of going ratingless, the tactical performance management and pay design decisions made as well as the change and communications implementation making this culture change a reality.           

Andrea Deeb is a Director (or Managing Director) in the Talent & Rewards segment of Willis Towers Watson. Andrea is a seasoned, global consultant who specializes in broad-based rewards and workforce effectiveness - designing and implementing compensation, reward and talent programs that link to people strategies and facilitate achievement of organizational goals. For more than twenty-five years she has partnered with clients and led consulting projects.  Additionally, Andrea has been published in workspan, a WorldatWork publication, as well as Becker's Hospital Review. She has also presented frequently at WorkatWork and client conferences. Andrea earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from New College. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and WorldatWork.
