RICHMOND COMPENSATION ASSOCIATION

Quarterly Meetings

RCA hosts four quarterly meetings each year.  Members and their guests can expect to experience a presentation from a speaker or panel of speakers on a topic of interest to the Total Rewards community.  There are networking opportunities, updates from the RCA board, and a delicious breakfast provided.

There is no charge for RCA members to attend quarterly meetings.  Guests may attend quarterly meetings for $50 for in-person meetings and $25 for online meetings.  Many of the RCA presentations are pre-approved for HRCI credits.

The quarterly meeting programs offered by RCA are coordinated by the two Directors of Professional Development, in conjunction with the RCA Planning Committee.  Members will receive an email approximately one month before each quarterly meeting that will include a link to RSVP.

If you are interested in becoming an active member of the Planning Committee, or have suggestions for future programs, please contact the Co-directors of Professional Development.

Pay Clarity or Pay Confusion?  A Guide to Recent Developments in Pay Transparency Laws.

Several years ago, Virginia expanded protections for employees who share pay information. In recent years, however, several other states and localities have gone farther, enacting expansive pay transparency laws imposing obligations on employers to share pay data, a broader trend requiring pay scale disclosures in job postings, which may impact your compensation practices, especially if the organization utilizes remote workers. This session will explore this trend and how your organization could be affected.

      Speaker Information

      Michael McIntosh

Michael S. McIntosh has represented clients in connection with a wide variety of labor and employment issues – from Railway Labor Act litigation, to employee handbook and policy preparation, to general employment counseling. However, his practice primarily focuses on complex wage and hour litigation in federal and state courts. He regularly represents clients in collective, class, and hybrid actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour laws, as well as representative actions brought by the U.S. Department of Labor. These include actions involving allegations of off-the-clock work, compensable preliminary and postliminary activities, and employee misclassification.

Michael also helps employers audit their wage and hour practices. This can include everything from reviewing employers’ formal policies and practices to ensure compliance with the applicable legal standards to conducting large-scale surveys of client’s in-field personnel to audit the exempt status of certain categories of employees.

      G. Bethany Ingle

Bethany Ingle represents employers in a wide variety of employment law matters. Her experience includes litigation and advice to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws addressing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as workers’ compensation. Bethany often defends charges of discrimination before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, and various local agencies. She frequently appears in federal and state courts and has successfully obtained dismissal, summary judgment, and defense verdicts on behalf of her clients.

Bethany also has extensive experience in negotiating good resolutions for her clients. She drafts employment contracts, severance agreements, employee handbooks, and workplace policies. Bethany has also conducted employee trainings and often counsels employers in the retail, manufacturing, transportation, and technology industries.
